More restaurants
I forgot a couple in my last post. Let’s not forget my favourte watering hole and, although I’ve never been, The Oyster Bar in Grand Central – I’m definitely having a few oysters there this year (more crappy flash websites by the way).
So, the itinerary foodwise is looking good. The hotels I’ll be staying in aren’t too shabby either. The first few day we’ll be staying at The Maritime and next week I’ll be staying at The Gershwin for a couple of days. I’ve stayed at the Gerwshin hotel before and they’ve got a bit of everything when it comes to clientele, rooms and prizes. The location is quite central and they do definitely offer value for money. The Maritime I’ve not stayed in before, but it looks promising (slightly more expensive than The Gershwin).
I love food
And when I say I love food, I really mean I LOVE food. Man, if I didn’t do sports at least four times a week I would have resembled Billy Bunter by now. As a matter of fact, not too long ago, when I stopped exercising for a while, I actually began to look like him a little bit too much.
Anyway, with my trip to New York starting in a couple of days I can’t help stop thinking of food. There are so many favourite place I just have to visit and then there are always new ones waiting to be discovered. The ones I simply have to visit (because of previous experiences) are:
And then some more. What’s up with all these crappy websites by the way? It seems that there aren’t any restaurants out there that want to invest time and money to at least put up something decent (although I already knew that of course, a weblog I read quite regularly – in Dutch – had noticed the same thing some time ago). Cafe Lalo is quite famous by the way for its appearance in the film You’ve Got Mail, where it stars quite prominantly in a scene. Right, now I’m off to make some food myself. Have a nice weekend y’all.
Thin is always in
Today I did some experimenting with day 17 of 24 days. I’m using it for the main site and will do so for the new theme of this blog when I’ve chosen a colour palette (with the aid of Dave Shea’s article).
Over at Krug they think we don’t exist
I’m getting married. Something that was getting inevitable and desirable at the same time. Nevertheless, I’ve still got kind of a hard time admitting to it. Why? I don’t know. Perhaps I’m desperately trying to hold on to that last straw of selfdeception that I am still yound and without responsibility. Not that that has anything to do with being married or not.
Why did I start this post again? Ah, because I wanted to tell you that, since we’re getting married and throwing a little get-together, I was looking for some gifts that people could possibly give us. It’s not that we want anything in particular. To the contrary. We’ve probably already got everything we could ever need. Therefore I decided to think up some things that I would love to get, but are way to expensive, strange, whathaveyounot. So I went to the Krug website, probably one of the nicest champagnes and definitely the most expensive one out there. But to my surprise (you have to select your country of origin and your birth year) (The) Netherlands or Holland don’t seem to exist over at Krug HQ. Could it be because of the fact that we Dutchies drink an abysmal amount of bubbles (last figures stated something like 12 glasses per capita a year (and less than half of that was from the champagne region))? It must be.
Since I had to think of an alternative and have always been wanting to be Afghan, I decided to list Afghanistan as my country of origin. Alas, people living in Afghanistan are not allowed in:Sorry, you are not allowed to enter this site.”, it said. Luckily, people from Aruba are…
Anyway, I decided to leave them a little note to ask them why they were so discriminating towards either nationality and at the same time inquire about an invitation to their winery(without one it is quite impossible to visit them). Let’s see what they’re reply is.
Some interesting WordPress plugins
While surfing the web without aim, as one does at times, I came across this nice list of plugins for WordPress. Of course there are many more out there, the only flippin’ problem is that you’ll need to find them first. Luckily, the folks over at WordPress.org also realised this and set up a new directory, a central place so to speak, to find and download plugins.
One thing that I found very interesting when reading the artickle was, and I quote, In the future you’ll be able to get notification inside of WordPress about plugins you use that have updates.
That sounds very interesting indeed. No more going back and forth trying keep up to date with the latest releases of you plugins, they’ll simply inform you when a new one is available. Nifty.
New theme coming up
Although I haven’t even finished tweaking this theme to my liking, I decided to start on a new one from scratch. It will probably take a few weeks or so before it’s finished (especially with the upcoming trip to NYC), but that doesn’t matter. I’ve installed a tiny plugin that will let you follow its progress by selecting the site’s theme. As you can see, all I’ve done up until now is define the divs and used CSS to put everything roughly in place. Read more
Busting out in the Big Apple
Normally I’m not one for posting NSFW content. But since it’s related to my upcoming trip to New York (*nudge* *nudge* *wink* *wink*) I’m posting it anyway. A beautiful series of photographs portraying topless women in New York. The ladies in question are consciously portrayed in a non-sexual way, to create the image of a world free of shame. A beautful underlying thought in my opinion, but, of course, I couldn’t help quickly glancing over some of the boobs to see how they’re hanging

Posts
It might seem a little quiet here of late, but that’s hardly the case. I’ve decided to keep more personal stuff private. Instead of protecting entries with a password I decided to look into other solutions. Anything of which I feel shouldn’t be shared with the general public is available only to friends. It’s a plugin I found via one of the blogs I visit quite regularly. I’ll be tinkering with it a little bit before I allow people to register.
