New York, New York
Start spreadin’ the news, I’m leaving today
I want to be a part of it: New York, New York.
About two weeks ago I decided to take a short break in March of this year. This last week I then finally managed to find some time to speak to my friend Martijn and book a flight to New York (which is where he lives – sort of).
It will be fifth or sixth time that I’m visiting New York. The first time was when I myself was still living in the States and the following visits have always been a combination of visiting Martijn, acting the typical tourist and having, what has grown to become, my annual shopping spree.
Last year I unfortunately didn’t have time to go out there – due to the fact that I was living in Spain – but the year before that we had a blast venturing out of the city and visiting some wineries in Long Island - a nice region – about an hour away from the city - with its beaches, woods and of course the Hampton’s. Anyway, since we enjoyed the Long Island wines very much, we decided to visit another area this time: the Finger Lakes in New York state.
While booking my flight I suddenly remembered a site I’d read about in a magazine: farecast.com. It’s quite an interesting site, because it predicts what will happen with the price of your ticket and, consequently, whether you should buy right now or whether it’s better to wait a while.
Unfortunately, the site is still in beta fase (who isn’t these days), which means that only about 75 cities within the US are included. And since I’m flying from Amsterdam it wasn’t a big help, but I still think that, when more cities are included, it will be a big help on making your ticket purchasing decisions.
